# Launch Your First Campaign (/docs/guides/getting-set-up/launch-your-first-campaign)

Campaigns are how Cora and her AI teammates reach out to your members for
you: welcome calls, effective date check-ins, payment reminders, plan reviews,
and a lot more. You can start from a template in the [Template
Library](/docs/guides/template-library), so you're never building one from a
blank page.

For your first one, we recommend **Welcome Calls**. It's a quick thank-you
text the day after a member enrolls, then one friendly call the day after
that. Members are paying
the most attention in their first 30 days, and a good welcome goes a long way
toward keeping them.

This page is the quick version. For every detail (and every gotcha), see
[Create a Campaign from a
Template](/docs/guides/template-library/create-a-campaign-from-a-template).

Steps to Launch Your First Campaign [#steps-to-launch-your-first-campaign]

<Steps>
  Open the template picker [#open-the-template-picker]

  Go to [Campaigns](https://app.carecycle.ai/campaigns), click **New Campaign**,
  enter a name, and choose **Voice AI > Create from template**.

  Pick Welcome Calls [#pick-welcome-calls]

  Templates are grouped by line of business across the top. Find
  **MA Welcome Calls** under **Medicare** (or **ACA Welcome Calls** under
  **ACA**) and click it. The right
  side shows a preview: an **Example conversation**, the **Automations
  created with this campaign**, and the **Required customer data** (members
  missing those fields get skipped). Click **Create Campaign**.

  Want a few campaigns at once? You can select more than one card, and the
  button changes to something like **Create 3 Campaigns**. Use **Start with Assembly**
  to discover and construct a custom draft instead.

  Define your audience [#define-your-audience]

  In **Configuration > Enrollment Automations**, review the event/date anchor and conditions. For example, you might enroll recently enrolled members, subject to the policy-status and date rules your team confirms. Publishing does not automatically backfill existing customers.

  Review the script [#review-the-script]

  Open the **Assembly** tab and ask careCycle to walk you through the call.
  If you want it to sound more like your agency, just tell it. See [Edit Your
  AI with Assembly](/docs/guides/campaign-toolkit/employees), or read the
  [Welcome Calls brief](/docs/guides/template-library/medicare/welcome-calls)
  to see exactly what it says. Human scripts belong to routing groups and
  are configured separately.

  Set your escalations [#set-your-escalations]

  In **Configuration > Scenarios & escalations**, point each one
  somewhere: Transfer Call rows need a routing group, Book
  Appointment rows need a calendar, and Log Inquiry needs
  nothing. The campaign won't activate until every transfer and booking row
  is set. Review daytime and after-hours behavior. See
  [Escalations](/docs/guides/campaign-toolkit/assistant-behaviors).

  Glance at the cadence [#glance-at-the-cadence]

  **Configuration > Outreach** contains the Pulse cadence of calls and texts,
  which comes ready to go with the template. Look it over and change anything
  you want in the full-screen editor. Save draft and Publish are separate
  actions. If it sends texts, make sure your [SMS
  registration](/docs/guides/stay-compliant/sms-and-rcs-registration) is
  done.

  Check who gets in [#check-who-gets-in]

  Open **Configuration > Enrollment Automations**. This part depends on which one you picked:

  * **MA Welcome Calls** comes with an automation that adds members **1 day
    after their enrollment date** (with a policy status filter, so cancelled
    policies don't get a welcome). It checks once a night and doesn't go
    back for people whose date already passed.
  * **ACA Welcome Calls** comes with an automation that adds members **1 day
    after their enrollment date**, skipping cancelled policies. It also
    checks once a night and doesn't go back for people whose date already
    passed.

  Either way, you can add people yourself from the **Customers** page with
  **Add to campaign**. See [Add Customers to a
  Campaign](/docs/guides/campaign-toolkit/add-customers-to-a-campaign).

  Test it [#test-it]

  On the **Overview** tab, use **Test this Campaign** to talk to the AI in
  your browser or have it call your phone. See [Test Your
  Campaign](/docs/guides/getting-set-up/test-your-campaign).

  Activate [#activate]

  Save configuration, publish the reviewed Pulse draft, and check calling
  numbers, AI dispositions, employee coverage, and delivery prerequisites.
  On the **Overview** tab, open the status menu, click **Activate**, and
  confirm with **Yes, activate campaign**. See [How
  Campaigns Run](/docs/guides/concepts/how-campaigns-run) for what happens
  next. Enrollment enablement remains a separate action.
</Steps>

<Callout type="warn" title="Don't sit on a Draft">
  A new campaign starts as a **Draft**, but its automation is switched on right
  away. If the automation adds someone before you activate, their first call or
  text gets dropped and they're marked **Skipped**. So finish setup and activate
  quickly, or switch the automation off in **Configuration > Enrollment Automations** until you're
  ready.
</Callout>

<Callout title="Have your first campaign reviewed">
  Before your first campaign goes live, have your careCycle representative look
  it over. They'll walk through who it adds and the cadence with you so it fits
  your book.
